Here's a view from my seat at the game yesterday.

Ball Park

This picture is slightly wide-angle. So the field is a little closer than it looks here. Notice the handicap seating. Notice how few rows of seats there are below me. Our seats were in the front row of the upper section, hence the big blue railing. There are only about 11 rows of seats behind me. When [livejournal.com profile] soulfulspike80 went to the game with us a few years ago we sat in the very back row and we all agreed they were fine seats. The stadium can seat about 10,000. The team in blue are the San Diego Padres; the team in red are the Arizona Diamondbacks. Many of the fans there were from San Diego. Several of the people sitting behind us were staying about a week to follow their team around the Phoenix area as it played at various stadiums. You can see the hole in the batting background for a TV camera. But there was no TV coverage yesterday. That you see more often on the weekends or on evening games in the spring. The dark vertical lines you can see are part of the screen to protect the fans sitting behind home plate. The lady standing in the cross-aisle right in front of me is an usher, a volunteer. Later in the game she was standing a little ways to the right of this facing the field, but deep in conversation with someone. A foul ball came over the screen and hit her in the back. She wasn't hurt but she did move before the next pitch!

There are seats all the way up the foul lines on both sides. The people you see in the background beyond the outfield wall are sitting on a lawn area, many of them on blankets.

It looks like a great day for a baseball game!
BTW, I'm going to check on the Vancouver baseball team's schedule; maybe there will be a game at Nat Bailey Stadium during the June weekend for you baseball fans at the gathering.
