Yesterday the L. A. Dodgers and the San Diego Padres played the first game ever (albeit a Spring Training game) between major American professional baseball teams in China. They had a near sellout of over 12,000 people, a respectable number for a Spring Training weekend game. The Chinese did it up right with vendors selling peanuts, hot dogs, soft drinks and beer. If a few more plastic bottles of tea were sold than usual, who would gripe? The paper says the usual Beijing smog even lifted for a beautiful day. They probably won't be so lucky for the Olympics.
