I don't have a lot of time this morning, but it suddenly occurred to me that no one had posted a picture of where we stayed yet.

I didn't get a picture of the front entrance so these will have to do. This is the complex from the campus side. There are three of these towers. The prominent one in the picture is not our building, but this is the sort of view of the place you might get approaching from any direction. The towers are on the south west corner, the east end and to the north of a large lobby area. I didn't see any cafeteria facilities for the students although there was a sizable meeting area under the West (or maybe it's called the South) Tower which might serve that purpose during the school year. All the suites had small kitchens with two refrigerators so it may be mostly 'cook your own' there. The low building in front is the main parking for the towers.
Gage Towers

This is the North Tower where we (the main group) stayed. There are 17 floors and we stayed on the 13th. The old Twilight Zone once had a episode that declared that any hotel with a 13th floor had Satan for a guest. We ATPo members are used to Hellmouths, so no biggie. Our rooms were on the corner facing the camera. I think my room window is open in the picture as is one in the common area with the balcony. The view from the balcony was nice especially the couple of days we got a break in the clouds. The balcony (and my room and Mamcu's at least) faced West overlooking the Straight of Georgia toward Vancouver Island.
North Tower

It was fairly easy to get turned around getting off of the elevators, but it seemed like a fairly easy chore to figure out which Tower was which from the lobby. However when we were waiting for the last folks to arrive from the airport, a nice British couple popped into our suite, proceeded to a room no one was occupying yet and found they could not open the door. After we explained to them that we had the whole suite rented, a bit disturbed although far from panicked, they asked if we'd found any belongings left behind. Then they noticed that the decor in Dave's room didn't look like the room they'd been staying in for a week, so they quietly beat a retreat. We figure they did indeed go up in the wrong tower, and that they got into the suite because we'd left the front door not quite latched.

Wait. I thought my room faced Vancouver Island. I think your room faced North, across the Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver

Nope, Jane was turned around. (She wouldn't have made the mistake if the weather had been clear the first time she saw it.) The balcony faced generally West. You can see the gap (The Straight of Georgia) between the Island and the north shore in a number of people's photos taken toward the right from the balcony.

My room faced somewhat northwest, yours somewhat southwest and the Island was no doubt visible from either.
