Today is the vernal garage-quinox, at least at my house. I was up early doing some much needed tidying around the house. I opened the garage door to throw a few things in the trash can. Then when I returned I discovered the garage door would not close. This time of year the sun shines directly on the garage door sensor, which then in turn refuses to allow the door to operate. I tried finishing my work then closing the door, but the sun still hadn't moved enough. So using the garbage can to simulate an eclipse of the sun from outside the garage, I was able to defeat the overzealous garage door sensor.
