I hope no one here is planning a trip to the Grand Canyon this Sunday. The Obamas are going to be there most of the day, and the park service is planning to make their visit as private as possible. Which means the main east-west road on the south rim is probably going to be closed at least some of the day, and some of the overlooks which are visible from each other will be closed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hermit's Rest area is closed before nightfall Saturday since it's an obvious area that could be closed off for a Presidential hike. I feel sorry for any family who will have driven many miles to arrive there on Sunday. It will be a good day to see other things near Flagstaff. The folks who make the long drive to the north rim may not notice much different.

RIP, one of the world greatest techno-geeks, Les Paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0ffdwBUL78&feature=related Yes, that's Alistair Cooke, who you whipper-snappers may remember from Masterpiece Theatre. The TV show was Omnibus which ran on Sundays from fall 1953 to spring 1957. The tracks are mostly reverb. But, with manual tape recorders and no such thing as mixers yet, it was pretty amazing in those days.
