You may not know it, but years ago I wrote an epic poem. A thousand beautiful lines. Oh, it was a humdinger of a story. It was about this woman who wanted more than anything to write things down and have other people enjoy them. Well, this magic box came along, kinda like a TV set, except you could write things down and just about anybody could see it. So this woman started writing things she thought about something she enjoyed a lot, and people she never met really liked it. The next thing you know a bunch of those people sat down beside her, so to speak, and started talking about the same things. Pretty soon this woman had brought together people from different parts of the world to talk, squabble and laugh. People who would have never met in a zillion years became friends because of her. Now I know it sounds ridiculous, but it sure was a good story.
The problem was I never could find a name for this heroine that would fit in the poem. Iphegenia seemed classy, but maybe too classy. Brunhild didn't seem right. Apraxia is nice and distinctive, but sort of awkward. So I left blanks in the poem for the woman's name. But, darn it, in one place her name was going to have to rhyme with "task" and "ask." In another it looked like her name was going to have to rhyme with "last parade." The only thing I could think of was "Ambuscade," and who'd name their little girl that?!
Anyway I gave up on the poem. But it sure was a good story.
What else was I thinking about this morning? ... Oh, yes!
