I went across town to have lunch with [livejournal.com profile] masqthephlsphr this morning. I left the house way early to do a little shopping at the outlet mall there. But the drive took me longer than it should have due to road construction. We always have so much construction that there is a regular feature in the paper to tell you what freeways are restricted and closed. I read it yesterday and saw that the freeway I take through town was restricted to the west, but I was going east. So get down to the area and find that the ramp going east is closed for unknown reasons, all of us from one highway are dumped going west on the other highway, the one that has restrictions going west. No signage at all to guide you away from it.

No problem. It's a longish drive to the next exit, but getting back on the highway going the correct direction is fairly easy. I get about half way to downtown and traffic slows to a crawl. I'm thinking accident. Very glad I left home way early. I get farther and see it's not an accident involving several vehicles. Instead several boxes of women's shoes have fallen off the back of a truck and are littered across the highway. I made it through without running over any. but you ladies should be careful about any fantastics prices you see on furry topped ladies' boots for a few weeks. By the time they get them picked up they are likely to be more than a little scuffed.

Anyway, I still made it to the shopping center a little early, amazingly found what I was looking for very quickly, and decided not to buy it. I scoot over to the restaurant and as Masq arrived perfectly on time I was mostly past all the being upset about the drive over. Naturally the drive home was easy as pie, and took 15 minutes less.

Masq looks in fine fettle. She gave me all the behind the scenes dirt on the last eps of The Destroyer. It's always worth the trip to see her. It's just especially nice that when there is grief, it's all over before the visit.
