Sports warning...
With all the publicity going on about football head injuries, you'd think the University of Michigan would have been a little more careful. I can understand that perhaps Brady Hoke, the head coach, may not have been watching when his QB was staggering around, but you can't tell me that somebody like the offensive coordinator wasn't looking right at him to give him the signals for the next play. Now after three days of lame excuses, they admit the kid had a concussion. With the crappy start Michigan has had probably the head coach was going to get fired anyway, but trying to pass off the responsibility for getting the kid off the field to the kid himself when he's been knocked silly... I don't know how Michigan can keep Hoke for long. The potential for law suits is too high.

The evening started off with a PBS cooking show with a guy making a BLT sandwich from scratch. He didn't grow the wheat or mill it. But he did demonstrate how he kept the rabbits out of his lettuce and gave tips on saving tomato seeds for the next year's planting. I don't know whether he raised the hog, but he did cure and smoke the slab of bacon before he sliced and cooked it. And, of course, he had to make his own mayonaise, because what is a simple sandwich without fresh made mayo??? At the end of the show he had a huge amount of lettuce and tomato (didn't look like much bacon) between two huge slabs of fresh baked bread. Looked delicious, but I'll leave the backwoods sandwich making to the pros. ;o)

Next I watched Sleepy Hollow. I was totally in the wrong mood. I do think the show has mostly benefited from Tom Mison's over-the-top Crane. Henry and Katrina are taking bigger roles this year which leaves less time for Crane on screen. Last night it really did not work for me at all. Hopefully I'll be in a better mood next time.

So after a BLT a year in the making and a bad experience with Sleepy Hollow, I was really looking forward to Castle... The cliff hangar last season was so good, and the beginning of the resolution this year is so ridiculous. The acting was fine. The story is just beyond lame. I hope they get back to episodic stories next week, because over the years the arcs have not turned out very well on Castle, like this one, usually a fine start that gets muddy and barely watchable as it goes on.
