1. What was the first type of cheese you ever ate?
I doubt most Americans could do more than guess at this, since we start eating it so young. Guessing from what I know about my mother, probably it was Velveeta, a processed American cheese that is so processed the US government even had its makers stop calling it cheese. Now it's weasel-worded as a "cheese product." Apparently when I was very small there was more actual cheese in it.
2. What was the type of cheese you ate most recently?
That I picked out? Jarlsberg. It's a guilty pleasure.
3. What is the most unusual cheese you ever ate?
I don't think I've had anything really unusual. I remember trying Camembert when it was very popular in the 1970s and finding it disgusting in look, texture and taste.
4. What is your favorite cheese?
It's hard to choose. And it depends on what you are eating it with. I guess I've probably bought more Gouda than anything else.
5. What is your favorite dish made with cheese?
Quesadillas, maybe?
