What class in school did you think was totally useless?

I guess the worst was a Rusian civilization course I took my last term as an undergraduate. The instructor was an air-head. She loudly informed everyone at the beginning of the class it was an 'experiment in learning.'. She declared, we didn't have to show up, but had to complete two projects. After several weeks of nothing I can remember, one of the women spoke up and asked that the class have some content. There was a big fight in class between the goof-offs who enjoyed doing nothing in class and a few of us who were actually interested in learning something about Russian civilization. The teacher sided with the goof-offs. The result was that several of us never went back to class. Instead we met and discussed life during that time at the nearby student union. Those of us who walked out, were mostly headed to grad school. We had sense enough to do the two projects and turn them in. Some of the goofs-offs didn't. There were some very unhappy goof-offs when the grades came out.

What was your favorite toy as a child?

I had two. Indoors, it was a set of plastic building blocks. (You people who who were young enough to have legos as children don't know how lucky you were.) Outdoors, we had a stack of assorted lumber maybe tweny feet by thirty and about four feet high in places, left over from building a sizable building. There were places to sit. The top was flat enough to run around on. For me it was everything from a space ship, to a race car. to a sailing pirate ship.

Do you tell your friends about your sex life?
What do you think I am? A woman?

LOLOL. That answer made me snort.

TKAMB- We did that book for English GCSE, and we watched the movie in one lesson. All the girls (it was a single sex school) were like "oh, a black and white film" and then Gregory Peck appeared.......suffice to say they started paying really close attention.

That made me laugh also. I really wonder what men think women talk about!! The locker room and the fantasies held within!

Oh dear

Still teasing here a little, but... You do know the question was about sex life not sex? To us that includes anything personal concerning someone you're going out with not just sex itself. You never talked about your boyfriends? Guys will talk about cute girls till the cows come home, but usually once they start dating they clam up. Don't tell me girls don't keep right on talking. Fess up! ;o)

Fessing, is that a verb?

about sex life not sex

And the difference is ??? lol.

I truly can't say I ever talked about the mechanics of said topic. The emotions some, but I have always held the opinion, that if you couldn't talk about sex and its consequences with the person you were having sex with, you shouldn't have been having sex. I was always much too embarrassed to talk about the truly most intimate details with my girl friends. Usually conversations happened most before a break up. When things were good, there was nothing to talk about, squeeing (to use a rather new word) happens without a whole lot of words.

Re: Fessing, is that a verb?

I 'fess up
you 'fess up
he, she or it 'fesses up
thou 'fessest up...
or Biblical - He, that 'fesseth up...

I think it's from pro-Germanic 'upzufessen' meaning 'You can't fool me.'

LOL, this just made me remember my ill fated, doomed Latin class in my first semester, first year of university!

I guess I am still evasive!

Re: Oh dear

TBH, I always wish my male friends would talk more about their relationships because I'd love to hear their perspective. Usually you have to wait until they get really drunk though.

I talk very little in real life about romance. My girlfriends drag it out of me. But in the end I do because it feels imbalanced that I hear so much about their relationships.

Re: Oh dear

There really is a power imbalance when you know TMI. About him, about her. It is as if you can judge so clearly about them, and yet they cannot about you. I don't like those sorts of imbalances. Feels manipulative.

TKAMB was filmed when there were still an number of B and W films being made. Just a few years after it was pretty startling as in Zorba the Greek and Last Picture Show when one came out that wasn't in color.
