This is the cousin of one of the cacti I showed a picture of earlier this year It's another 'star' cactus, an Astrophytum ornatum

The 'ornatum' in the name comes from the bands of frosty-white freckles that develop alternating with bands of smooth green skin. You can see traces of bands all over here, with the first wide band on this plant just beyond the petals. I've been waiting for this flower to open today. It wasn't fully open when the first bees were rolling around in it about noon.
