I had to do a little thinking on these (and I didn't googlecheat.

atsf: Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe

bnsf: Burlington Northern Santa Fe

cbq: Chicago, Burlington & Quincy

drgw: Denver & Rio Grande Western

I'm pretty sure on these. My dad and his dad before him were serious rail enthusiasts. I imagine that there weren't too many others who could reminisce about listening to recordings of steam locomotives on a rainy Sunday, or state with certainty that at one point I had walked every inch of track in the county. Or that in my garage right now I have every issue of both Trains and Model Railroader magazine, along with a rather impressive collection of HO scale locomotives and cars.

As I'm sure you know, those old magazines are worth something now.

I got the bug later in life. But, I'm old enough to remember road steam engines working. My sister and brother used to get a good look as trains passed by their two-room school at recess, going onto a long tressle toward a Missouri River bridge across the river bottoms from us.
