We've had very few storms this monsoon season. I did get a nice batch of rain this morning. My plants have just been burning up even with hand watering. My icon's agave still looks fine, but much different from the cheerful springtime plant in the picture. Hopefully, I'll have the funds to do some replanting this fall for the one's that didn't/won't make it.

To ann1962: I didn't want to mess up your beautiful memory by replying in your journal last night, but... My poor high school girlfriend was not so lucky. Her mother had no idea what might look good on the daughter. Mom picked things mom might look good in, and got her daughter hair styles that matched hers. Poor kid just looked awful her Freshman year. There after the daughter took charge of buying her own clothes and deciding what her hair should look like. The change was almost unbelievable.

It's better with guys. Not so big of a range of choices and less chance for awful mistakes. I did have an aunt who sent me dress shirts, one every Christmas, I couldn't wear for dress shirts because the colors she chose were all wrong for me.

There are ways to go seriously wrong with boy's clothes as well, especially nowadays when there is a wider range between formal and informal.

Just a few years ago boys' causal stuff was amazingly ugly, but it's getting better. Dress clothes fortunately didn't get too extreme this time around. I never cared much for the 'casual look' when I was a kid, anyway. It was mostly hoodlums who wore that stuff in public. The less said about extreme times like the early 1970s the better. ;o)
