I understand that thanks to Miller Brewing and its program for smaller businesses a local Phoenix business got an ad spot during the Superbowl. It turns out I'm a customer of Bizarre Guitar. I have a mandolin and a guitar I bought there. It's not that I recommend that place to everyone out there across the world who'd want a musical instrument. But it is a nice shop. Instead I'd encourage everyone to find smaller businesses in your own area that are willing to cater to your needs rather than simply selling whatever sells in the biggest volume everywhere else, so they'd have no need to get to know their customers personally.

I think a lot of people are starting to come around to this way of thinking. By buying or supporting the people in your own neighborhood, you are supporting your entire community by keeping your money where you live.
