A few pictures from the back yard

First my growing agave stalk. The first is a closeup of what the top and branches look like from a week or so ago. Agaves don't really have pretty flowers. But sometimes little agaves will develop up in the stalk providing an easy way for gardeners to pluck them off and plant them if needed. The second picture is from today showing the whole plant the stalk. It is now about 5 1/2 foot tall (just a few inches shorter than I am) and it may well grow taller.

The senna has been late to bloom this year probably because the fall was very dry. The first picture here is one of my Cardons, Pachycereus Pringlei with a senna branch above it. I think I explained last year that the camera fails to show how vivid the yellow of the flowers is. If I adjust the picture for more yellow to compensate then you can't see how blue the Cardon is! The second is a senna up against the back of my house. The bush in the foreground is a jojoba. In the background is a Yucca datillo which can get to be the size of a tree.
