I'm not as disturbed by the blown call costing Armando Galarraga a perfect game as I am by effectively having three perfect MLB games in two months. Can't anybody hit anymore?

College Football
Of all the silly rumors started by overeager Texas football fans the latest has to be the silliest. Most of the Big 12 South joining the PAC 10? Do these people honestly think Arizona and Arizona State are dying to give up playing southern California teams for the chance to play Texas and Oklahoma? Do they think the folks in Pullman, Seattle, Eugene and Corvallis would jump for joy at the idea of flying their men's and women's basketball teams halfway across the country to play in either Austin or College Station every year? This rumor might be front sports page news in Lubbock, but it's buried pretty deep here in Phoenix.

A TV alliance between the two conferences would be great for both. A mass merger in this age of escalating transportation costs would be nearly insane.

Unless they think they can start their very own lucrative Pac 10 network. The Big Ten Network brings in so much money that Notre Dame actually takes a pay cut to stay independent.

The Pac 10 and the Big 12 have been in talks about a joint network. The merger rumor is that blown out of proportion.

The rumors of what this'll do to the ACC really bugs me.

FSU, Miami, Clemson and Georgia Tech to the SEC. ACC imports the C-USA and Big East teams that nobody else wants to hang together.

And to think, it could have been all averted if Penn State had joined the Big East in 1991 instead of the Big 10...

Frankly, I wouldn't worry. Unless the Big 10 invites more than one team, and there's no guarantee they won't decide to stand pat, this super-conference mania will all blow over.
