I hope all of you in the US are having a fine Thanksgiving.

I decided to go with a full-size chicken instead of game hens this year. It's about the same work and a little cheaper. I haven't had roast chicken in ages either. The trimmings will be the same: green beans, wild rice and stuffing. (I'm not a cranberry fan.) For desert I'm going to go a little light: cookies and egg nog ice cream to snack on during the games this weekend.

This is the only day of the year I actually eat turkey. Not a big fan of it. But with enough gravy dumped on top, it's fairly palatable.

I like turkey. But unlike when I was a kid, it's easy to get it more than just at Christmas and Thanksgiving, so I don't crave it any more. The one time I went to a restaurant on Thanksgiving was slightly unpleasant, so I cook. No need for 15 lbs. of turkey when it's just for a few people.
