Castle has been one of the few shows I've been willing to watch regularly over the last few years. That may be changing. This year the interaction between Castle and Beckett has become painful to watch, the plot with the murderers of Beckett's mother has become very repetitive, if not exactly predictable, and the show has brought conflict into the small group of friends pretty much just to support a feeble, unnecessary arc. In short, the show may have it's best years behind it.

I don't think there was anything wrong with bringing in some problems between Castle and Beckett this season. But, whether it was the writing or Fillion's acting, Castle came off very pouty, very petty, not the person he was before, who we all would have loved to have seen Kate Beckett fall in love with. Beckett's behavior was off, too. The major theme of the year seemed to be that she could only think of one thing at a time (couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time), so she couldn't be concerned with her job and about what she felt about Castle at the same time. This isn't the brilliant woman she was in the first three seasons. The "payoff" in the finale between Mr Pouty and Miss One-Track-Mind was, at least for me, less than appealing.

This needs to improve early next season or I don't think I'll bother watching for long.
