Last night's episode of Bones was really depressing. I don't know why they think that kind of thing is necessary. Everybody hits some rough patches in their lives, but on Bones what's normally a fun show gets pretty sad and dreary at times.

I was curious enough to watch the first episode of Mob Doctor when it reran last week. It's kind of JADS (Just another doctor show) except with mobsters. But it is something of a change of pace from the detective shows with some humor I've mostly been watching the last few years. Grace, the doctor in the title, is a little too superhuman for a resident. But after a second episode I have to say it's a nice guilty pleasure.

I got up this morning and realized I'd missed seeing Castle last night (didn't miss Revolution at all). Nothing new for most of you, but this morning was the first time I watched a whole TV show on the net. Thank you, new Internet service. It was the mandatory "let's push the series-long cliff hanger back in the background for another year episode," meaning it, too, was a little grim. But it was enough lighter in spots than Bones was to make it enjoyable.

I don't see how those "rule" are going to bring back the tension of "will-they-won't-they" romance, but it had gone on too long, I guess. Same true with mom's murderer. Always a problem when shows have a resolvable premise and then succeed.

Now I think it's graduated to the dreaded "we can't tell anybody stage." All they need is Ryan or Esposito moaning about knowing and not being able to tell anyone else and we'll have the police version of season whatever of Friends.

The daughter is an adult and grandma likes Kate. Why hide it save for the sake of a few easier scripts to write?

Really. House managed by having his impossible personality (and then by her leaving the show)--Castle is really nice, but what's-her-name would probably be hard to live with. I think they should go that way.

I watched Castle. I feel kind of bad for the girl who plays his daughter. I hope she gets paid by the episode, or at least has another gig or is in school or something. Because she and Susan Sullivan have pretty much nothing to do on the show.

Well, maybe she can get temp work as a scab referee. Can't be any worse than the zebras last night.

Since she's going to Columbia, I suppect we'll see the daugther back helping out in the morgue for the forseeable future.

Can't say much about the refs. I haven't watched pro football much in decades because the regular officiating was getting to be such a joke. A ridiculous number of games were going down to the last few minutes because the refs were ignoring holding and what-not for the team that was behind. It was obviously league policy, and the average fan scarcely noticed or cared. Things may be better with the regular refs now, but I still have trouble watching the NFL. I think I've seen that elephant, as they say.
