It's bad enough that stores are forcing their employees to work earlier on Thanksgiving Day, but do we have to have the Christmas episodes of TV series running the first Monday in December? I saw two of them last night. Granted the first was for a series that has been canceled in every way short of actually stopping showing the episodes. Mob Doctor isn't that horrible. It's just that most people don't have any interest watching a show with its obvious premise. I wouldn't watch it if it weren't between Bones and Castle. It's going away very soon after the New Year, and I doubt any tears will be shed over it. On top of that its Christmas episode was about the weakest one so far. It would have been a mistake to show it anytime close to Christmas. But Castle? Not a terrific episode, but a very suitable Christmas episode, one that could have played very well on Christmas Eve in its regular slot with the full knowledge that a lot of the fans of the show would be watching it on DVR or on-line some other time. If they absolutely think they needed to run something else Christmas Eve, why not run it the 17th? Surely nothing special was so pressing that had to run in that slot.

I have no faith in the corporate world's understanding of statistics and thus in the ability of networks to make intelligent scheduling decisions.

For some odd reason - the networks feel this need to do the mid-season finales and Xmas episodes of all these tv shows this week and last week. Which means the rest of Dec is reruns and holiday specials and reality shows, I'm guessing.

Why? Do they think no one watches during this month? It's very odd.
It's like right after November sweeps, everything goes on hiatus, comes back briefly in January...just in time for Feb sweeps, then goes on hiatus again, then comes back for April, just in time for May sweeps.
Then the summer shows start.

They will have to change this template soon - since most people DVR or stream from the net and don't watch when the network is broadcasting the series anyhow.

I didn't stick with Mob Doctor because it didn't hold my attention and I'm watching too many other things that are similar. Too many tv shows, not enough time. And sigh, I can't really say that many of them I'll miss if they disappeared tomorrow. Sad, but true.
