I was just waxing nostalgic with atpo_onm over snow cones. As he pointed out, they are not as out of date as I thought.

And now I'm wondering, how many other animal species besides ourselves are willing to eat very cold or very hot items? And/or do said other animals have the capability of "aquired taste", where a food item found initially unpalatable becomes less so and finally enjoyable?

I don't think cats can actually taste *sweet*. I half suspect this is a photo-shop. But mine is attracted to bright colors. He might lick something cold once especially if he thought I was going to eat it. Dogs? Yeah, once they knew it was sweet, some would gobble it up, cold or no, others would run around in circles till it was half melted, then lick it up. We had berries in growing in the yard in Missouri. The dogs would leave them alone unless we were picking them. Then they'd decide they had to get a few for themselves, even though the bushes had thorns.
