The rules for my friends list

I defriend all Bloodthirsty Warlords, Nazis, Bolsheviks, Mensheviks, Bomb Throwing Anarchists and most other poilitcal and social miscreants.

Otherwise, I think a person's LJ, how they run it and what they put in it are pretty much their own business. I think long LJ entries look a little tidier if they are cut after a few paragraphs, but it doesn't affect what I read one way or another. I appreciate it when my friends put all obscene pictures behind cuts so I don't have to look at them all day.

So far I haven't defriended anyone. I guess it's because I'm so demanding.

I thought the Mensheviks were the good guys?

Many of you may already know bolshe means 'more' and menshe means 'less.' An old joke in Russian goes "What's the difference between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks? ... They are exactly the same except the Bolsheviks have more bad qualities and the Mensheviks less good ones." They were both aiming for an oligarchy of political cronies. The split was largely over 'religious' fervor. The Bolsheviks were not only more openly violent, they more honest about where things were heading. The Mensheviks were justifiably identified as conniving.
