It's been an interesting if not very pleasant afternoon.

I couldn't find some papers I needed. Searched for about two hours and found them close to, but not where they were supposed to be. Later I went out to the local fast food place for an early dinner. The summer weather here tends to dry my eyes out, so when I got back I decided to switch from lenses to glasses, as I usually do. First lens comes out fine. The second one seems to come out, but I look down in my hand and it's not there. From long experience I carefully separate my fingers, turn my hand, check my cheek in the mirror, check the corners of my eye to see if the lens has slipped, but is still in my eye. Nothing. I carefully check my clothes, carefully step back and check the floor. Nothing. At this point I'm thinking about which drawer my old lenses are in so I can make do for few days if necessary. I find a likely candidate, and start the ritual of thoroughly cleaning it off and resoaking it so it won't make me blind. I've just about got it slicked up enough to put it in solution for a few hours before cleaning it again, when I see the missing lens off in a corner of the sink top under my razor. Whew!

I rewatched "The Train Job this morning with the idea of writing something for ATPo tomorrow (assuming it ever comes back). I wasn't coming up with much so I watched it again with the commentary. Well, it's not much of an episode... Can't blame Joss and Tim, though. Not bad for a weekend quickie.

Maybe that's what I should do. Yes, I have to wear reading glasses to read with my contacts in, which is why I usually take them out when I'm home.

I wore contacts for years and years, loved them. Until I started having trouble reading the labels on things in the store because my arms weren't long enough. I finally gave up on contacts when I realized I need bifocals. Now I just have to keep track of my glasses!

My sister has one lens for close vision and the other for distance. But, considering how many times I've put them in and had blurred vision in one eye for fifteen or twenty minutes, I'd be afraid of that. Glasses are certainly simpler.
