> Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to?

Favorite Place: Copenhagen, Denmark
Favorite Trip: The first long road trip I talked my parents into taking. We saw Disneyland and many national parks.

> Where was the first place that you traveled to?

Colorado. My brother and sister remembered going up Pikes Peak. I was a baby.

> What is the furthest distance (KM/miles) that you have traveled?

St. Louis to Moscow by way of western Europe.

> What is the most vivid sense-memory from travelling?

The vivid blue of Crater Lake in Oregon, with a good 12 foot of snow on the mountain surrounding it.

> What is your favorite travel souvenir?

I have an incredibly cheaply made plastic perpetual calendar, I bought in Leningrad back in the days of the Soviet Union. It has a raised design showing the world being circled by one of the Sputniks, with the USSR standing out boldly on the Earth in red. It cost a ruble and twenty kopecks. It's worth many times that in cheese factor.

Either/Or

> Planes OR Trains OR Boats

Yes, I like all three. Trains are a little less stressful than planes. I'm not a big fan of puttering around on day-cruise boats. But I like going places on boats as on ferries and the like.

> City OR Countryside OR Seaside

Cities are nice in Europe. Here in the US I prefer the countryside, especially the mountains.

> Hotel OR Hostel OR BnB

My experience with BnB has been good. Hotels are okay but smaller ones are better than big ones. I decided hostels were not for me, many long years ago.

> Hot OR Cold
I'm not fond of either extreme. Let's say cool over warm. I once wanted to learn how to downhill ski, but never got around to it when I was young enough to try.

> All-inclusive OR Budget OR Pay-as-you-go

All-inclusive is fine for situations like on a cruise. But touring in groups is not nearly as fun as deciding what to do for the day with a map and no set schedule. Budget is fine as long as I can sleep, but I don't require it.

Like Shadowkat, what I prefer is to have a central location or hotel, and thoroughly explore the surrounding area. Let other folks scurry on and off the tour buses. I like to take my time.

> Activity heavy OR Lazy

Both, I like strenuous hiking in the morning followed by an early afternoon of lounging around.

Future
> Where do you most want to travel to?

Right now, I'm not all that interested in travel.

> What one monument do you want to see the most?

There are a couple in the Phoenix area I haven't seen yet. I'd like to take a day trip up to Tonto National Monument this fall. (Salado culture cliff dwelling)

> What’s your most ambitious travel plan?

...

> What’s one new thing you want to try on your travels?

...

> If you could travel with anyone, who would it be and why?

I've always preferred traveling alone.

Food & Drink

> What’s the best food you’ve had on your travels?

I'm not much on splurging on food. But, see below

> What’s the most memorable food you’ve had on your travels?

* Big gobs of beluga caviar for lunch in the USSR. It was a way to try to get us to buy some. It was good, fun to do once, but I don't need it all the time.
* Bison sandwiches in Kansas and at Mt Rushmore.
* Mexican food in restaurants in many small towns across the American West.
* Navajo Tacos in Navajo country
* Shrimp stuffed with crab meat in Wisconsin.
* Undercooked chicken at a restaurant in California that probably just wanted us to clear out, so they could switch to night club mode.

> Do you drink alcohol while on holiday? If so, what’s the best alcoholic drink you’ve had while on holiday?

Only if I don't need to drive. I guess Guinness stout, at a couple places far from home. I'm not much of a drinker, especially away from home.

> What traditional or famous meal do you most anticipate trying on your travels?

My favorite traditional meal is Mexican-American and I don't need to go more than a block for that. ;o)

> What food that you ate while travelling have you made at home?

I tried to make some sweet crunchy pickles like I had at my favorite restaurant in Copenhagen. Didn't come close.
