1. Do you think your country would change if everyone, regardless of age or any other current restriction, could vote? If yes, in what ways?

No. Decades ago, the Democrats lowered the voting age to 18 thinking they would never lose another election. Fooled them.

2. Is there a movie or TV show you can watch over and over again without tiring of it?

At the moment, the old drama Emergency!.

3. If an actor who is really well known for one role turns up in another film or TV show playing a different character, do you have trouble not seeing them as their more famous character?

The one that really bothered me was David Thewlis in Wonder Woman. I kept thinking why are they trying to make Professor Lupin evil?

4. Regardless of your age, what "old person" thing(s) do you do?

Grumble about what's wrong with younger people?

5. Do you often get the hiccups? If yes, do you have a go-to cure for them?

No, holding my breath does seem to get rid of them.

7. What was the last funny video you watched?

By chance it was a British couple watching Abbott and Costello's famous "Who's on First" baseball routine. The woman particularly seemed to waver between gales of giggles and an expression of "what the hell are they talking about?"

8. Which current or at least recent news story is the most interesting to you?

Russia vs Ukraine.

9. Would you rather ask for help with a difficult task, or figure it out for yourself?

I'd rather figure it out myself. But with the Internet, getting help is so easy that...

10. What do you think is the best sitcom (current or past)?

Cheers

11. What do you think is the most overrated movie?

The Soviet sci-fi flick Solaris. The tendency was to praise any Soviet art that was not outright awful to the skies. Solaris is tedious but pretty in spots.

12. Who would you most like and least like to be stuck in an elevator with?

Most: a friend I don't see enough of.
Least: a panicky loudmouth.

13. What was the last song you listened to of your choosing? What was the last song you heard that was imposed on you (e.g. background music at a store, in someone else's car, etc.)?

I happened to wonder about the silly "Tan Shoes with Pink Shoelaces" yesterday.

My grocery store doesn't play Muzak anymore, so it's been too long to remember any background music.

14. Do you play mobile games on your phone? If yes, what is the most addictive game you've played?

No!

15. Do you text more or call more? Why?

Rarely call, don't text. Don't own a working cell phone.

16. Most important in a partner or best friend: intelligence or sense of humour?

Both is best. That way we can laugh at the same things.

17. February 17 is "Random Acts of Kindness Day". What random act of kindness would you like someone to perform for you?

Write me a note. She did on the 19th and it was a doozy.

18. What are you going to do this weekend?

(Technically in the US it's still a weekend, today Monday.) I'm doing a jigsaw puzzle my niece wanted me to try.

19. Would you rather have all your meals prepared for you, but not have any say in the menu (outside of certain dietary restrictions e.g. allergies), or sleep eight hours every night, but not get to choose your bedtime?

Silly question. Am I eight years old again?

20. What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear/see it?

Shadowkat's "It's my personal choice whether I get vaccinated or wear a mask during a global pandemic," is pretty good. Maybe for me, it's politicians saying, "I recommend you get vaccinated, but if you don't want to, that's okay, too."

21. When was the last time you got to tell someone "I told you so!"?

I don't remember.

22. If someone narrated your life, who would you want to be the narrator?

Basil Rathbone. It would sound way more important than it is.

23. Is there something that you're interested in that most people aren't?

Linguistics

24. What was cool when you were young, but really isn't cool now?

Saddle shoes and poodle skirts. They weren't cool by the time I was a teenager!

25. What is the least inspiring/interesting meal you've eaten?

Vegetable soup.

26. What really needs to be modernized?

Depends on what you think "modernization" means. If it's just a buzz word for doing everything "my way" maybe nothing.

27. "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!" Do you believe hardship make a person stronger? If so, under what conditions and at what point is it too much hardship? If not, what makes a person stronger?

What works? Clean living and moderate exercise. [/sarcasm]

28. What's invisible, but you wish people could actually see?

Bad intentions.
