Nope, I find Mary Poppins a bit creepy even in the movie.

Yes. But not very far.

I probably have some lace on a table cloth I inherited from my mother.

Nope.
5. Do you still buy a real, printed newspaper?
No. I quit back in Phoenix when the paper decided to lay off all its billing staff and sent that off out of state. No more discounts for paying for long term ahead of time. No more subscribing by me. Can't say I miss it, and I don't waste all that time putting papers in the recycling can every week.
6. In 1991 Tim Berners-Lee released files describing his idea for the World Wide Web. WWW debuted as a publicly available service on the Internet today. In what way does access to the web help you in day-to-day life?
The usual.
7. Do you collect anything (or even regret a collection you started?)
Used to collect a few things. Mostly they collect dust now. It was fun while I was collecting. I don't regret it.
8. What’s your favorite alcoholic cold drink? With or without ice?
I like tomato juice with a dash of ouzo. Haven't had it in years though.
9. International Owl Awareness Day. Have you ever seen (or heard) wild owls?
Yes, an owl liked to perch in the maple tree outside my window in Missouri. I heard lots of calming who-whos. I've seen owls in broad daylight flying over the back end of our woods. I've seen several minding their own business in odd places in national parks.
10. In 1865 Lewis Carroll published ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ - have you read it/seen a film version?
I've seen a couple film versions, read it and Through the Looking Glass in both English and Nabokov's translation into Russian.
11. Author Herman Melville was born today in New York in 1819, have you ever read Moby Dick?
Yes. I wasn't thrilled by it, but I think I enjoyed it more than most people do.
12. The theme of Earth Day this year is a 60% reduction in the production of plastic and a reduction in the use of plastics, and plastic waste by 2040. Do you try to avoid plastic waste? Is it easy where you live, or are you struggling to avoid plastic/plastic waste?
I try to reuse plastic where I can, before recycling it. I am very discouraged by pictures of plastic recycled honestly by people in the states only to have it dumped in the ocean when it gets to Asia.
13. It's the UN Spanish Language Day - can you speak any Spanish? Did you learn Spanish at school?
I studied Spanish for four years in high school. I don't speak it much. I can understand it when it's spoken distinctly, like on the Spanish language national news. I tried reading some Spanish stories a few months back and was pleasantly surprised.
14. At what age did you learn to drive? Did you learn to use a manual (stick shift) or an automatic car? If you own a car, how old is it?
I learned at 16-17. got my license at 17. I learned to drive both automatic and stick, but haven't driven a stick shift car in decades. I own a car and it's old but doesn't have a ton of miles on it.
16. Have you ever eaten chocolate-covered pretzels? Do you like large soft pretzels? Have you ever made pretzels? It's National Pretzel Day.
Soft pretzels were a big thing in St. Louis. but I never had one. I'm not particularly fond of the regular ones.
17. Today we celebrate sculptures - are there any places near you with sculptures? Have you a favorite sculpture that you've seen?
Oddly there is a statue of a horse and foal in the median of a wide street near me. Can't say I have a favorite statue.
18. Richard Hoffmann, Austrian violinist and composer was born today in 1925 - have you ever played a stringed instrument?
Mandolin and tenor banjo. It's difficult now with my arthritis
19. It's World Art Day, and also the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci (1452) - do you have a favourite artist or sculpture whose work you would love to own?
My house is full of paintings my sister did. Can't say I have a desire to own any from a famous artist.
