Just terrible that more movies aren't as good.
When I did all that griping for years at Joss, I just wanted him to get it right. Well he really did, and he can do it again when the inspiration hits him.
Were you all as shocked as I was when Wash got staked? Staked!
I didn't think the operative would be much different than Jubal Early of Objects in Space, but I was pleasantly surprised there was a subtle difference.
Summer Glau was terrific, and so were her stunt women. It's one thing for a ballerina to be so graceful, but for the stunt women to pick it up and work with it was really fine.
The saddest part for me was when Book died. I kind of expected it. But still.
Both Joss and the network were right about Mal. The Mal of Serenity is a better character than the one in Firefly, and he probably is too dark for a broadcast TV series.
Gina and Jewel looked so great. And good heavens, Marina looked younger!
Alas poor Wash! He was a man of infinite jest. Too bad he was staked or he could come back as a vampire! (Just kidding, Joss)
P.S. Many thanks to mycompanion (oops, thats a naughty word, now, isn't it?) gracious friend for the fine afternoon!

During the movie as I was noticing what you just pointed out, I noticed that during the big Reaver fight scene they were hiding her face. Much like SMG, Summer can made a good start to a move that someone else completes for her.
The only thing I can say about lack of discussion of the Operative is that most of us are familiar with 'true believers.' He really isn't anything new or different other than his change of heart and his recognition that he's not part of the perfection he's striving for. In that second part he's very like a group of "programmed" soldiers in a particular Star Trek DS9 ep, who realized when the war was over, they were too dangerous to live in the society, they'd fought for. It was a subtle change on the common story of others thinking that of soldiers coming back from war.
