Odds and ends

It's cloudy for a change. It hasn't rained here all winter which is a record. We're hoping for a little this week from a big storm that is hitting California soon.

soulfulspike80 sent me some interesting photos of her recent Hawaiian vacation, but I can't e-mail to thank her because AOL (Cheryl's end) isn't accepting it. Either it thinks I'm a junk mailer or it just doesn't like my provider.

I have a cold which has been getting worse for several days. I hope the worst is here, because I really get some doozies of colds sometimes. I have to go back to the eye doctor late this week and I certainly hope the worst is over by then.

The coverage of the Winter Olympics has been spotty. I don't know why the sportscasters can't figure out the US never does particularly well in the winter games. The number of viewers is down here, I think partly because in the lead up to the games the network insisted the US was going to be fantastically good. The team actually was a little better than usual but, you'd never know it from all the bellyaching the announcers did because they won few of the glitzy events. It didn't help that one particular skier bought a fortune worth of advertising time for his business with him starring in each and every commercial, then turned into a total bust as a competitor... By the way, figure skater Emily Hughes looks like a love child of Willow Rosenberg and a guy I went to college with... She's cute and but the resemblance is a little creepy to think about.

Big as in state-wide in California, so Central Arizona might get some. I don't think it's supposed to be a violent storm.

Yes, totally. If they ever do a movie of this girl's life, or her sister for that matter, AH has to play the part.

I don't think I could quite figure out, who Sarah Hughes looked like when she was skating, though she looked familar. But her sister Emily has got AH's impish face blended with my old friend's, and with no question about it, his nose.

Although I love skating, have to say that all the skiers look alike to me, unless it's a spectacular crash and burn. And the endless laps of skate racing also leave me a little less than excited.

What I really don't understand is why, given that it's all on tape anyway, they show it so late. Why not start at 7, right after the news, and end while people are still awake?
