I'm having a number of minor problems with DW, including the editor acting wonky and DW not liking icons I've made with newer software.  Currently I'm having to create the icon with one program save it, load it into a crude older program and resave.  Obviously it's cutting out something, but what I don't know. I don't think the size of the original files is the problem. Icons made with the crude program directly look very bad.

After a short exchange with Masq I'm thinking of posting some new fiction somewhere.  I tried blogspot last night, but I loathe the text editor there.  More later.

This may or may not be the problem with your icons, but some programs automatically-- and invisibly-- attach all kinds of non-image stuff to the image file. This data can trip up any number of applications that aren't the one that put it there.

I found this out when way back when I tried to post icons to LJ and got a "file too large" error on files that should have easily fit. I found out that both Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop elements by default attach extra data, which was embiggening the file. I discovered the need to strip this stuff out, and now do so before posting almost any image here at LJ.

(You may know this already, but, just in case...)

I knew it was something like that. It is interesting that after importing files some programs routinely strip it all off when saving, and others just leave it as is.
