I'm limping along in the writing department. I don't have a clear idea of what's next after the splashy finish of part I. I only have a clear idea of what one character is going to do for the rest of the book, and I haven't quite decided how she's going to get there. I might as well quit, but since there is a chance I could still hit 50,000 total (November + one week) I'll continue, but slowly.
Intense writing is not fun. At least for me it tends to eat up the time I would be exercising. So my sleep pattern gets thrown off and I'm very tired all the time. Since I've backed off on writing, and started cleaning house for Thanksgiving I've felt much better.
I was disappointed in the episode last night. It was all very anticlimactic, We knew as soon as we saw the painting what generally was going to happen at the high school. The business in India was a waste in that episode, exposition in an ep that should have been all breathless action. The one really good scene was the one where Claire returns to the front (?) of the building and discovers she's not the only one, who is special.
I think Heroes is teaching me something about writing. There is a point where too many 'central' characters do begin to detract from the story you are trying to tell. Clearly Heroes has exceeded the limit for a story that seems to have some direction. For other shows it's not a problem. ER for example seemed to get away with so many because the arc part of the story was trivial compared with the day to day things. Since I like books with lots of characters this does tell me something.
For yesterday 735 - For November 35,464 (Total 45,058)

This is the third episode I've watched, so I'm probably not completely up to speed yet. Adrian Pasdar's character, I guess I'd call him The Politician, really struck me as poorly done last night. Or maybe Pasdar was just phoning it in...his performance seemed flat.
And don't Peter and Mohinder kind of have the same basic role to play? Finding the others and gathering them up? Although Peter is much farther ahead on this, and has his very unique "power." I wonder if we'll find that Mohinder has a power as well?
Ah, enough speculating. Off to work!
Have a good one.

The politician was pretty much in character, which shows there isn't much depth to that character. (Producers comment on politicians?)
Peter and Mohinder are currently doing the same thing, as is Claire's dad possibly with other motives. We're awfully far into this season to know so little. They are supposed to reveal the bad guy next time But doesn't this remind you a little of season 4 Buffy? Week x - "Oh, we have to do something about Adam." Week x+1 - "Oh, we have to do something about Adam." And so on.

Can you tell me, have they revealed why Claire's father's "assistant," if she has enough power to put Syler to sleep just by suggesting it, has to do everything that Claire's dad says? Why doesn't she just walk away from him? Do we know what her backstory is yet?
Sorry to be a pest, I'm not sure whether I've missed this stuff or they're leaving it deliberately obscure and confusing!

It's deliberate obscuration.

Well, if nothing else it will provide something to rant and moan about for a couple more weeks, and then I'll probably let it go if it doesn't improve.
I do love Masi Oka as Hiro though. He overacts terribly, but he's just so darn cute.
