I have more pictures I can post, but this entry will be mostly for me and pictureless

Thursday
#Lunch - a soda-can-sized tomato juice and a couple of cookies. I was surprised to get the cookies since the airline said during the previous week that they were cutting out snacks. I figured tomato juice would stick with me longer than soda.

#Dinner - I think Jane had planned for us to order pizza that evening, weeks before. It was a good choice. Everyone who came in that day was hungry by then. I had two or three slices. Mexican, which was strangely sweet as well as hot from jalapeƱos, Greek, which was just a type of Veggie, and another kind of Veggie perhaps.

Friday
Breakfast - I had a minor leg cramp in bed early in the morning, so I was very pleased Jane had brought bananas. A half a banana that morning and no more cramps for the rest of the sojourn. This was very good since I doubt others would have enjoyed me screaming in the middle of the night if I'd had a bad one. I also had a cup of herbal tea. Same brand as I use at home, but the packaging was different, which made the tea strong even though I always just sort of swish the bag through the hot water a few times anyway.

Lunch - I went with Dub to the bank and Dave came along to go to the grocery with us. We got fixings for sandwiches, soda and some chips. Dub was appalled when she discovered that Americans don't butter their sandwich bread. "Barbarians! Barbarians!" I had a ham sandwich when we got home. I think Dub found a sandwich without butter tasted all right.

Dinner - That evening we got into procrastination mode. We wanted something delivered, but couldn't figure out who delivered to the dorm. A search party was sent out. About the same time they discovered a Chinese place that would deliver, Jane arrived at the suite and told us about the same place. Some people decided to go have Indian instead, but those of us who waited had a grand feast of Chinese. We had much leftovers and it would have been worse if Dub hadn't warned me not to order a second order of Sesame Chicken which I believe Jane and I both wanted.

Saturday
Breakfast - Some herbal tea and yummy cinnamon roll (I think it was that morning.)

Lunch - By complete chance, I had fish and chips at Troll's overlooking Horseshoe Bay. A very pleasant little group of people and casual sightseeing.

Dinner - Patio Party! Hoot Whoot!. I had a burger, hot dog, green salad, 2 helpings of potato salad and a Nanaimo bar that was rich enough to end even my appetite. ETA: I almost forgot the corn-on-the-cob, which I helped prepare for cooking. Aw, shucks! ;o)

Sunday
Breakfast - My more usual nothing for breakfast

Lunch - I got to spend some private time with Dub. We went to The White Spot near Jane's place. I had a Hamburger with the restaurant's special sauce and some fries.

Dinner - With the group already breaking up, we had a nice sized party for dinner at Mahoney & Sons Pub. I could have ordered, what Jane had, Shepard's pie, or what Marjorie had, Irish Stew, but Bangers and Mash isn't something I'd make for myself, so I ordered that. It tasted good and the mixed vegetables were a treat.

Monday
Breakfast - Thanks to some considerate people Tim Bits.

Lunch - I probably would have skipped lunch, but the very considerate [livejournal.com profile] ann1962 met me beyond customs. We had turkey sandwiches at Orange Julius and prolonged the meet for about another hour. I had another big tomato juice (with no cookies) on the plane to finish off my holiday menu.

Drinks during the meet- I had a glass of wine or two most evenings. A soda or two most days. I had a Whistler Beer at Jane's and a Guiness at the pub. At the two restaurant lunches I ordered iced tea, and both places was given something not very tea like, fruity and pre-sweetened. Dub assured me it was from a mix. It was okay, but not plain tea as I wanted.

That is absolutely neat! (I'm just now getting to go over the gathering posts, and search for pictures, lol!) I never would have considered doing a menu post, but it automatically brings back what was happening and who was there at the time...like the huge Chinese feast being different from what would have been ordered in the US. And the "no butter" clause...yikes!! I now have a squeezable bottle of Miracle Whip in my 'fridge, believe it or not. It's right there, hiding the Best Foods/Hellmann's Mayonnaise.

The only thing I can see out of squiff is that the cinnamon buns were on Friday morning, because they were there when I got there, and I didn't go to Gage on Saturday morning...just went to pick up LadyS at the hotel instead.

Memories....la-la-la-la-la-la-laaaaaa.

;o)
