My sister called me very early this morning before I was dressed. One of *her* cactus had bloomed and she wanted me to come see it. I knew which one, so I threw on some clothes and drove over without shaving.
Her cactus is a night bloomer so to see the full flower in full morning light is special. The largest of the three barrel cacti to the left is about the size of a cantaloupe. And you can see the full size bricks.

The plant is a hybrid of Echinopsis bred for its flowers. The stock plants from which it came are from South America. (The loop of black is part of the watering system for the tree behind.)
