The title "Ringer" is a reference to the movie "Dead Ringer" - one of two movies starring Bette Davis in twin/mistaken identity roles.

Y'know, the phrase "dead ringer" had occurred to me in connection to the show, but not the movies, which I'd heard of but don't think I've ever seen. And I didn't know there were 2 of them!
