As in "big deal, it's summer. " My air conditioner has been running steady for weeks and weeks and I was happy I didn't need it as soon as usual this year. It's up to 110 this week in Phoenix, usual weather for this time of year. At least in a couple of weeks our monsoon should start and we'll get rain once in awhlie.

I feel a little trapped in the house lately. I won't get to go to the big ATPo meet, and Cheryl has been very busy lately, so I haven't had seeing her to look forward to. I still get out every week, but what with saving money for a new car next year, my budget is a little pinched. I don't do a lot when I do get out. Sigh.

This morning, I finally got around to working on my new novel as I've been promising dub. About the beginning of the year I had a lot of enthusiasm for it. but I've hit a spot where I'm thinking "Is this any good?" And the answer in my head isn't very encouraging.

The working title is Principles.

It's a little complicated, but basically it's a futuristic style story about an alien working in human territory as a person of authority, who finds herself involved in a political demonstration gone wrong, having to sort out what happened and why. The local human police try to keep things from her, and the differing ethical values of several of the people including the main character affect the outcome.

You don't have an email listed? I was going to email you and then I brilliantly noticed this. If you ever to to a place where you'd like a beta reader, I would be interested. I can't always respond quickly though, and my forte isn't plot, etc so I don't offer to alpha read for people, and obviously, but I will say it anyway, no weight here. ;-)

Thanks

It's not even close to the beta stage!

This story is particularly for Wisewoman. (She was very sweet about reading a monstrous-sized novel I wrote several years ago.) But if I ever get it done and she says it's okay, I'll keep you in mind.
