The store near the bank didn't look busy and in normal times they have a little better stock than the place I usually go. The only thing on my list I didn't get was soap for the dishwasher. I'm getting low, but not in dire straights. I could have gotten tablets, but you can't easily fudge and use less with those. Over all I bought more in one visit than I have since this started. Only bought 18 items and that included several cans of cat food. Still, I now could again get by on everything except milk and dishwasher soap for a month again. This makes me feel better. The cat is taken care of. I'm taken care of. I can worry about other things now.

There were a few things still missing from the shelving, but no big vacant areas anymore. Chips which they get regular deliveries on, have never been in short supply. I've used Oreos as treats for a few weeks. I'm out, but I decided I'd skip them this week and didn't look at the cookie section, today.

I think I've only got one more pair of latex gloves. You could in fact wash them, but with my big hands getting them on and off even once without tearing takes care. They didn't have any on the shelf today, so I got some disposable plastic gloves. Not safe for surgery, definitely not reusable, but they should do fine for handling groceries for a few more weeks.

Most of the customers were wearing both masks and gloves, but about half the employees were wearing neither.

I was advised by Midnight Jane (ICU nurse) over on FB not to worry about gloves. And they can actually do more harm than good. Because you get in the habit of thinking you are safe with them, and don't need to worry about touching things and keeping your hands clean and away from your face.

They get dirty too, she advised. And you have to wash them too. And if you take them off immediately, you still have to be sure to wash your hands after wards.

She advised me not to bother with them. (I will for doing laundry.) That the mask was sufficient.
